The expansion and modernization of the São Paulo Metro reflect the urgency of a Brazil on the move, seeking efficiency and sustainability in its transportation system.

The core of the project is the expansion of Line 2-Green, which will gain 13.8 km of new tracks and 13 new stations, divided into two phases. The first phase, with 55% completion, already features eight new stations; the second brings five more. São Paulo also adopts the CBTC (Communication-Based Train Control) system, a train control technology based on continuous communication. The adoption of platform doors, known as PSDs (Platform Screen Doors), is another advancement. They eliminate accident risks, reduce energy consumption, and speed up boarding and alighting. The purchase of 63 new trains for lines 1-Blue, 2-Green, 3-Red, and 15-Silver completes the rolling stock renewal, increasing system reliability and reducing maintenance costs, according to Globo.

Larger investments are also being made in Line 15-Silver, with R$1.03 billion, allowing for the delivery of 19 new trains, of which 15 have already been delivered. And Line 17-Gold, with R$836.3 million budgeted to connect Congonhas Airport to Morumbi Station, symbolizes a delivery promised since the 2014 World Cup, as reported by O Cafezinho.

The 2025 performance, with R$4.51 billion invested in works, shows the seriousness of the commitment. São Paulo, historically underinvested in mobility infrastructure, now chooses the path of rail.
