Turkey’s infrastructure investment agency, AYGM, has awarded a contract to Makyol İnşaat for the construction of a tramway serving the twin cities of Adapazarı and Serdivan. The Y-shaped line, stretching 15.5 km with 19 stops, is designed to commence at Sakarya Atatürk Stadyumu in the east and extend westward past Tuna Tan to a junction. From this point, one branch will head southwest to Sakarya University, while the other will travel northeast to Serdivan Spor Salonu.

The civil works and electromechanical systems contract saw 11 bids, with Makyol İnşaat securing the project with a bid of TL14.5bn. The construction scope encompasses 1,595 meters of cut-and-cover tunnel, including one escape tunnel, and two bridges totaling 95 meters made from prestressed precast concrete beams. Additionally, a substation and a depot equipped with a workshop and administrative center will be built.

Makyol İnşaat is also tasked with providing 24 months of maintenance services post-completion, drafting operation and maintenance manuals, and conducting staff training. Prior to this, in March 2025, Tekfen Mühendislik had won the tender for design and engineering services with a bid of TL46m. An upcoming tender for supervision and consulting services is anticipated in August.
