Brazil’s commuter rail operator CPTM has awarded Alstom a contract to supply signalling systems for the Maua Norte Yard, according to railwaygazette.com.

The yard is located between Maua and Capuava stations on suburban Line 10-Turquoise. It has six tracks used for shunting, train formation and stabling.

Alstom will supply, install, test and commission a complete signalling system. This includes an electronic interlocking, lineside signals, turnout control and train detection systems. Auxiliary subsystems such as CCTV, access controls, telecoms infrastructure and dedicated radio communications are also part of the scope.

The project involves adapting and integrating existing signalling systems at Capuava and Maua stations. A local control centre will be built at the yard, along with two remote supervision posts. These will be fully integrated with the Line 10-Turquoise control centre.

Announcing the order on July 15, Alstom stated that it is supplying a proven system developed for local conditions. The system has already been deployed in several projects across Latin America. All development will be carried out with Brazilian labour, reinforcing the company’s commitment to developing local talent and strengthening the domestic industry.

The project is scheduled to take 18 months. After completion, Alstom will monitor operations for an additional six months to ensure proper functioning of all systems. The contract includes a two-year warranty.
